Carcinogen Found in Many “Natural” Skin Care Products, One Skin Care Specialist Fights Back
April 15, 2010 – Dr. Teri Dourmashkin was shocked when she found the results of a recent study: a number of skin care products that claim to be “natural” or “organic” have cancer-causing ingredients.
The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) revealed that ethoxylation – a process that provides mildness to harsher ingredients – produces 1, 4-Dioxane, which, according to the state of California, is a chemical that causes cancer. Because it is considered a by-product, companies are not required to list 1, 4-Dioxane on their labels.
